Amidst all these Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, Minecraft has been free to play on any browser. Not only can you play free on a browser, but Minecraft has recently released an official iPhone app which sells for $6.99. You can also choose to play the Minecraft Lite app for free and upgrade later. The free versions of Minecraft are limited in their modes of gameplay, but you can still get a feel of the construction part of the game.
Minecraft for the browser is free, but it is the classic version of the game. This means there’s no danger of your character starving to death or running out of resources. There’s also not as many blocks to choose from when building. I tried it out for a bit, but since I’m not used to PC controls it was a little difficult for me. If you’re all about building structures and destroying random blocks then this may be your gateway into Minecraft. It’s a great way to try it out before you upgrade to the full version which costs $26.
Or you could always try out the iPhone version. The lite version is free but also limited in gameplay mode. You can choose to create a new game and construct to your heart’s desire, or join another game. The only drawback about joining another game is that it must be within your phone’s wifi reach. So if you’re living in the ghetto, chances are you probably won’t find many people playing Minecraft more than smoking meth.
